Ticks

Symptoms of a Tick Bite

Even with the necessary precautions to keep ticks out of your yard, sometimes they can still get to you. It’s important to know the symptoms of a tick bite so you can catch it early. It usually takes up to 24 hours for a tick to transmit a disease to its host, so the earlier you catch it, the better. Ticks usually bite people around the armpits, groin, or in the hair. So if you’re in an area where ticks are common, check those areas on your body to see if a tick is still attached to you. Be sure to check everywhere as well, in case they attached to somewhere else. A tick can stay attached to your for up to 10 days. Once it’s fully engorged, it can detach itself and fall off. You want to find any ticks attached to you within the first 24 hours to prevent a transfer of diseases.
