We’ll get rid of the ants, prevent pest re-entry, and then clean and sanitize the area so you can resume living life to the fullest. Don’t put it off. Those ants are not going anywhere. And depending on the type of ant, they can cause massive damage to your home.

You may see any of these ants in Arlington:

Nuisance Ants
You’ll typically see nuisance ants (odorous house ants and sugar ants, for example) in kitchens and bathrooms, around concrete slabs, garden beds, etc. They are prolific foragers and will travel large distances in search of food. Nuisance ants get worse as the season goes on and the colonies continue to grow. They do not go away on their own. They have to be forced to leave.
Moisture Ants
Moisture ants eat wood, and they prefer wood with a higher moisture content than normal (for example, around plumbing fixtures, tubs, showers, sliding glass doors, windows, etc.). You may not see the ants themselves unless they’re swarming, but you may see evidence of their activity … ant fecal pellets known as “frass.” Frass is digested and excreted wood, and it’s typically all the same size, dark color and texture, unlike normal sawdust. It’s critical that you get professional ant removal help if you see frass or suspect you may have moisture ants. Depending on the amount of structural damage they caused, they can end up costing you thousands of dollars in repairs.
Carpenter Ants
Carpenter ants can do considerable damage to structures, but not because they eat wood. They don’t eat wood, they nest in it. They hollow out space for the colony to live and raise their young. Knowledge and experience with this ant species is required for proper treatment and removal. If not removed from your home, carpenter ants can cause thousands of dollars of structural damage.
Pavement Ants
Pavement ants nest in the soil under concrete slabs, curbing, and asphalt driveways. They are often found in garages. The most common sign of these ants is mounds of soil and gravel that keep appearing around cracks and crevices in your concrete and asphalt. If these ants aren’t removed, they will continue undermining the soil beneath the concrete and asphalt in and around your home until that concrete and asphalt starts to sag, settle, and needs to be repaired.

Tips to Get Ants Out of Your Home

Clean Up
Since ants are attracted to food, clean up your kitchen. Don’t leave food out anywhere in the house, including crumbs. If there isn’t any food for the ants to find, they won’t come back to your house.
Seal Up Your Food
Yes, air-tight containers can be pricey but they are worth it. Ants can’t get into air-tight containers so they can’t get into your food and ruin it.
Dry Off Counters
The reason why you find ants in your bathroom is usually because of water. Wipe off counters to eliminate water and make sure you seal your toothpaste tube.
Seal Off Entry Points
Use caulk to seal off obvious entry points in windows, doors, and near your baseboards. Once it dries, you can sand it down and repaint if needed.
Use Ant Bait
If you already have an ant problem, then ant bait works great. You can make your own, or buy some from a hardware store. Ant bait is a poison that attracts ants, but it doesn’t kill them right away. They will take back the poison to their ant nest and kill off the entire colony. Some people choose to keep ant bait out at all times to keep ants away for a long period of time.
Empty Trash Cans
If you put food scraps in your trash can then empty it right away. Ants will be attracted to the trash so you can get them to move to the outside trash can.
Call in the Professionals
Professional pest control companies have the remedies you need to get rid of ants. They’ll seal off re-entry places and keep the ants out.

You want a company to show up quickly, on time, and get rid of the pests that are bothering you. That is exactly what we specialize in. We are a family owned company with over 22 years experience that relies on service, not sales gimmicks.

Our philosophy is simple: We strive for excellence. Every employee in our company has this memorized, How we define excellence: “Giving the customer what they’re paying for, NO short cuts.” It is that simple. Our mission is to show up on time and get rid of the problem. No hassles. You can ask anyone in our company what our motto is and the answer will be the same.

No sales gimmicks or tricks. We’re consumers like everyone else, and don’t like someone trying to sell us something we don’t need, so we don’t do it here. We will tell you what you need, not what we want you to buy. That’s why we don’t make our customers sign contracts or remain obligated. You can use us for one service or many. We leave the decision up to you.

We are a service based business not a sales based business. Show up on time and do what you’re supposed to do. I am amazed at how many customers don’t expect this anymore from the companies they hire. When a company is providing an excellent service then referrals and increased sales are a natural result.

You need pest control because without it, your home and family are at risk. Pests can carry bacteria and expose your family to harmful diseases. Uncontrolled pests also can cause costly damage to your property. Pests do not simply go away on their own. You must take the proper steps to get rid of them. You should be in control, not those unwanted pests. Pest control is all about regaining that power and peace of mind.

Minimal, unless this ant has been left untreated for so long that the pavement/concrete hosting the colony begins to disintegrate.

The right over the counter product, placed in the correct place will usually remedy the problem.

Some methods of pest control attract bugs into traps using bait. And sometimes you’ll start noticing more bugs as pest control treatments start working. These are not new bugs coming into your home. They’re bugs that have been in your home all along, but now they’re dying or trying to find new places to live. Talk to your pest control professional if you’re noticing more live bugs once you’ve started treatment, because something may have been missed or just not be quite right.

No, all pest control companies are not the same. Not everyone holds themselves to the high standards that we do here at Classic Pest Control. What makes us different from others is our attention to detail, our knowledgeable staff, our quality service, our honesty, integrity, and professionalism. We’re proud to have been the recipient of the Angi Super Service Award for 11 consecutive years. Not all pest control companies can say the same. We are veteran owned and operated, and this is a family business. Our family cares about your family.

Sometimes you see more bugs after pest control treatments. And you may question if the treatment is actually working because of this. Don’t worry. The extra activity actually is a sign that the treatment IS working. Not all pest control methods kill bugs on contact. But once the bugs have been disrupted by the treatment, they will become more active while they try to find a safer place. Once they either move out or die, you’ll stop seeing them. If you continue to see more live bugs once you’ve started treatment, be sure to notify your pest control company because something may have been missed or just not be quite right. Technicians are human, after all, and if there’s a problem, we want to fix it for you. At least, that’s our policy here at Classic Pest Control! We take care of problems, and we do it quickly.

The number of hours you need to stay out of your home after spraying for bugs depends on the pesticides and chemicals used. Sometimes this is two to four hours. Sometimes it’s up to 24 hours or more. If you or your family members have any underlying conditions that make you more sensitive to the pesticides and chemicals used, these time frames may be extended. This is absolutely a question you must ask your pest control provider. We recommend having this discussion when you schedule the service so that you’re fully prepared when the technician arrives. You should feel comfortable asking this question of any staff member who answers the phone or any technician who arrives at your home. At Classic Pest Control, we have a knowledgeable staff that you can trust with all of your questions.

The determination of how often you should do pest control in your home also depends on the treatment methods you’re using and the severity of your pest infestation. You may need treatments more often as you’re initially treating the problem. You may need pest control visits less often if your treatment methods are longer lasting. The goal is that your home is always protected. Your pest control provider can help you create a treatment schedule to keep your home and family safe from pests based on all of the particulars of your situation. Here at Classic Pest Control, our philosophy is that we’re a service-based business, not a sales-based business. That means we work with you to provide what you need, not what we want you to buy. We believe you deserve that respect. So how often you should do pest control in your home, is not a one-size-fits-all answer. It’s unique and specific to you.
