How Weather Affects Pest Problems

Pests tend to change their behavior based on the weather, many times seeking shelter in your home. This tends to happen in cooler, rainy weather.

Rodents

When it gets rainy and cold,(rodents) look for shelter in people’s homes. Rodents cause a lot of damage including electrical fires, plumbing problems, droppings and urine stains on insulation, and much more. It’s important to take care of a rodent infestation immediately to prevent further damage.

Ants

Ants can actually cause structural damage to your home if not taken care of quickly and properly. They cause structural damage by carving out the wood in your home. The more moisture there is, the easier it is for them to carve it out and eat it.

Wasps and Bees

Wasps and bees try to get away from the rain as well and can make nests and hives in your home. When they do this they can cause structural damage to your home.

Spiders

While spiders don’t cause structural damage to your home, they can become a problem if they are poisonous. A large infestation increases your chances of getting bit by a spider. The Hobo spider is very aggressive and its bite has a similar effect as the brown recluse. A spider infestation should not be ignored.
